Freesurf was born from a simple truth: the best surfing in the world isn’t happening under competative conditions— it’s happening at every break, every day, by people you’ve never heard of.
They’re the unsung heroes of surf culture. The dawn‑patrol crew who paddle out before work. The parents squeezing in a session between school drop‑offs. The tradies who surf like pros but chose a different path. The travellers who chase empty peaks instead of podiums. Even Groms with aspirations but haven't quite made it yet or beginners of all ages, just feeling the stoke for the first time and the locals who know every bend of their home break better than any judge ever could.
These surfers aren’t chasing points, rankings, or sponsorship deals. They surf because they can’t not surf — because it’s stitched into who they are.
And that’s where Freesurf began, it started with a realisation: the freesurf world is the biggest, rawest, most authentic part of surfing. So we created a platform, a place where everyday surfers could be seen, celebrated, and ranked by the global community on pure style, flow, and feel.

At Freesurf, we are dedicated to sharing the latest surfing and free surfing uploads from around the world to establish the Wave of the Day, as voted by the global free surfing community.
We live to protect Marine Ecosystems around the globe.
Our platform offers prizes awarded for wave of the day, week, month, season, and ultimately the grand prize, Wave of the Year. We have created categories for groms, females, seniors, surf regions, location shots, and experiences.
Voting is based on fun, stoke level, authenticity, combination of maneuvers, size, shape, power & intensity, colour, angle, length of wave, distance, background, creativity, and overall coolness.
